Who am I?

Margaux, founder of Maison Mediterranea, in the streets of Naples

My name is Margaux, and I'm French-Italian.

I'm not a chef, and I'm not even particularly good in the kitchen. But I am curious, and I have come to know Naples the way few foreigners do: through its smells, its encounters…

Naples does not give up its story easily. You earn it, neighborhood by neighborhood, bite by bite. That conviction is what pushed me to create Maison Mediterranea: food walks across the city, made for anyone who wants to discover it differently.

My perspective is that of a woman who carries both cultures, but who chose Naples, and decided to become its best translator for travellers from all over the world.

In English

Ask anything in your own language. The tour also runs in French and Italian.

Addresses, not stops

Artisans and families I know personally, chosen one by one.

Small groups

Small enough that the walk stays a conversation.

★★★★★
An unforgettable culinary immersion! Margaux tells Naples through her own expat lens, and that is what makes the experience so authentic. She has real connections with locals and with the good addresses — no pre-packaged tourist circuit. There were eight of us for a bachelorette party, and the atmosphere was perfect!

I had the opportunity to do a food tour with Margaux during a bachelorette weekend with eight other friends. It's an activity I highly recommend for anyone looking for something different to do on a short weekend getaway with their girlfriends. Margaux created a personalized tour tailored to our needs, and the bride-to-be was thrilled (and so were we!). Thanks again!

Bachelorette, bachelor parties and groups

Coming as a group? The tour is yours alone: your date, your time, your pace.

It is the most flexible option: I can add a stop, stretch the walk, put a spritz at the end, or fit the tour in before dinner.

  • Bachelorette and bachelor parties — a relaxed way to discover the city differently, with no rigid program.
  • Corporate and incentives — an activity that gets teams talking, far from the meeting room. Company invoicing available.

Frequently asked questions

Is the tour in English?

Yes. I am French-Italian and I guide in English, French and Italian.

Groups are formed by language: you will never be mixed with participants who do not speak yours. An English tour is an English tour, from the first coffee to the last bite.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes. Groups are small and places go quickly in high season. Write to me on WhatsApp with your date and group size and I will reply quickly.

In summer and over long weekends, a week ahead is safest.

Is it really enough food?

Yes, easily. Six tastings spread across the whole walk, from the morning coffee to the final pastry. Nobody has ever left looking for a restaurant.

The route adapts to the season, to what is open and to the mood of the day. Come hungry, and plan a light lunch if you join a morning tour.

I am vegetarian, or I have an allergy. Is that possible?

Tell me when you book and I will adapt the route.

Vegetarian is no problem at all, Neapolitan cooking lends itself to it. I can also work without pork, and around a lactose intolerance.

For severe allergies and gluten-free, write to me beforehand: I will tell you honestly what I can guarantee and what I cannot. The fryers are shared, and I would rather be straight with you than have you take a risk.

What if it rains?

The tour goes ahead, with an umbrella: most stops are covered or very quick. If the weather is genuinely bad, I will offer you another date. You will not walk for three hours in a storm.

Is it suitable for children?

Absolutely, and they usually love it. The pace is easy, the food speaks to them, and the rate is €30 for under-12s. Let me know their ages and I will plan the stops accordingly.

Is there a lot of walking?

Two to three kilometers over 2.5 to 3 hours, with a break at every tasting. There are a few climbs, Naples is not flat — but nothing athletic.

And I adapt to each person. If someone needs a slower pace, more places to sit, or no stairs, tell me beforehand and I will change the route.

Is Naples dangerous?

No, no more than any other large European city, and the city's reputation lags well behind reality. I live here and I walk these streets every day.

The precautions are the same as in Paris or Rome: no large open bag, no phone in your hand in a crowd. The neighborhoods we walk through are lively and busy.

What must you eat in Naples?

Pizza fritta rather than the oven-baked pizza everyone already knows. Frittatina, the breaded fried pasta no guidebook mentions. Graffa, warm, in the morning. And the endless sfogliatella-versus-babà debate that Neapolitans have never settled.

That is exactly the route this tour follows, with the addresses that go with it.
